Dear
Clients,
Never give up on your dreams. Without goals and dreams in our lives we are empty. It does not matter who believes or does not believe in you. It's irrelevant. This is about you. This is about reaching your full potential in life. It's not falling down that we should fear, but not getting back up and moving forward. Dreams are not end goals, but a journey that can take us to places we never imagined. And sometimes the journey can be more exciting than the end result. I feel fortunate to have had a hard life growing up. I used to feel sorry for myself and now I can see what insight, strength and wisdom it gave me. It also gave me empathy. It was a gift.
Animals came into my life at an early age. They made me feel safe and loved, and I still feel that strong connection today. I want cats to have more recognition, more value, and stronger bonds with their people. After all, they are like little babies with fur that hold a special place in our lives.
I have a lot of dreams and goals for the business. I'm not sure exactly what that will look like down the road, but I want to take this business to a whole new level this year. I want to be open to the possibilities of what that might be. A reality TV show on cat grooming? How fun would that be! You just never know......

Pacific Northwest Groom and Trade Show
City Kitty was happy to be a part of this trade show for groomers Mar. 16-18. We did a 4 hour seminar on Friday on cat grooming for dog groomers that want to learn more about cat grooming. We also hosted a booth for the City Kitty Franchise. Most trade shows I attend are 99% dog related and 1% cat.( Me being in the latter category of course.) I really have to do something about this! After all, there are more cats in households now than dogs. What's up with this? I will be doing a few more shows this year including the CFA National Cat Show, the Westminster of cat shows. I will have a franchise booth there, and do a 15 minute presentation on cat grooming for spectators. It's months away and I am already giddy about it.

Easter Bunny Caution

Most of you may know that Lilies are highly toxic for cats. It can result in renal failure and even death. Please don't have these in your house. Have your emergency vet information on hand always in case of an emergency. More information on plants toxic to your cats can be found on the CFA website at www.cfa.org.

Plaq Clnz

We are starting a new dental cleansing program at City Kitty. It is a 3 step program including a spray, water pick in the bath, and a gel. We highly recommend the gel as a maintenance program to be used at home. One drop in their mouth daily works with your cat's saliva to fight bacteria, plaque, tartar and odor. It is all natural and sells for $20, available in the salon. We hope to improve the condition of your cat's mouth. This is especially important for cats that do not like brushing, or maybe too elderly for anesthetic cleaning by your vet. Please call with any questions.

Meet Alex

I am now working with a fantastic cat person. Alex has been with me for 3 months now, and he has survived, although at the beginning I was not sure he would stay with it. (After we did 16 cats on a Sunday, Ha Ha). He said he can't believe what hard work this is and he was in construction! This job is not for slackers. He has a natural way with the cats and they like him! He is calm and steady, with a good sense of humor. He could be the James Bond of the cat grooming world? Our work ethics and philosophy on cats mesh. He also has a diverse business background and we are talking of how to work together to expand the business. He has a lot of good ideas, and we will see where this takes us. He also works with Seattle Persian and Himalayan Rescue and serves on their board. So if you are looking to adopt, go to their shelter at the University Petco on 45th.

Breed Profile - The American Curl

The American Curl is not a common breed but a fascinating one. Distinguished by ears that curl back in a graceful arc offering an alert, perky, happily surprised expression, people break out into a big smile when viewing their first curl. Designed exclusively by Mother Nature, the ears can be likened to those of a Lynx with long tufts fanning outward. The Curl personality is truly unique. People oriented, faithful, affectionate soulmates, adjusting remarkably fast to other pets, children and new situations. People say they are very dog- like in their attentiveness to their owners, following them around so as not to miss anything. The Curl's curiosity and attentiveness is expressed through little trill-like cooing sounds. They are referred to as the Peter Pan of felines!

Price Increase

As of May 1st we will be raising our prices by $10. This will be for all full-service grooms as well as Lioncuts and Comb cuts. We have not raised our basic grooming prices in 2 years, and the cuts in about 5 years. I think you will still find great value as we are doing dental care, and extra services such as salt scrubs included in the grooming packages.
On another note, effective immediately, we will be charging for hand stripping undercoats of cats that do not come in on a regular basis. This is especially true of longhaired cats. When a cat is not groomed regularly, it requires more physical labor and time, not to mention stress for the cat. Remember, when your cat is not used to regular grooming with us, they are more stressed and we can't always do the best job we want for you. When a cat gets stressed this presents more of a risk for us to get bit or scratched. All groomers across the board charge extra to strip out months of undergrowth. This is not unusual.Just to let you know, some groomers will only take regular clients, and the reasons are clear. A lot of you are realizing the benefits of regular grooming and we commend you for your diligence in doing so. We hope you understand our position in this matter.
